Django 1.0 released!

Wohoo! OK, maybe not as big as Chrome but Django 1.0 released yesterday! Django is a brilliant Python Web framework designed to make our lives easier. Django takes DRY to its extreme and comes with myraids of documentation including an online book! Django is like Lego, first you start with many dispersed pieces; you then get an idea of what you want to build; pick up a few pieces from Django Plugables; and tada! Your masterpiece is near completion.

I know I sound like a salesman now but I’m really just trying to express my excitment to the 1.0 release :)

Now, it’s time to get my hands dirty with Python!

  1. Yippeee, I've been using Django for a little while now and am very glad that it's made 1.0. Finally I can start real development instead of just test projects.

One thing that I've noticed is that Django is very resource intensive… on every request, CPU usage was in the 70 percents, my old server was struggling to keep up.

Here's me hoping that 1.0 will be faster, better and stronger!

@huy: that's strange – I've been running Django pre1.0 on a shared hosting environment for a while now and have not had any issues – you must have some very bad code there mate :P

  3. It might be that I have too many recursive database lookups… but I shouldn't be blamed – Django makes it just too easy to select and display ancestor item in a navigation path :P

I suppose I will be forced to write better code when performance matters :D
